Advice on installing BMW CF Splitters?
I searched unsuccessfully to find DIY info on mounting CF splitters. The dealer recommended a glue/tape/fastener combo, but I'd prefer 3M tape on the upper surface & just the included fasteners on the lower side in case they ever need replacing or removal. Any links or shared experiences will be appreciated.

I used the tape on the top and fastners on the bottom. Very secure and took half an hour to install.

Had my dealer install mine, tape and fasteners only. Cost was one hour labor or $80 plus tax. Enjoyed 45 minutes checking out cars on the lot and was on my way. Better than me screwing it up!

I did it myself with 3M tape all around the perimeter, and ONE screw - I didn't want to drill any additional holes. Took me about 90 minutes (I'm a total novice), but most of that time was cutting the tape perfectly, and peeling off the stubborn red backing!
Try them on a couple times first before peeling off the backing to give yourself some practice on how best to slide them on without the tape prematurely sticking. I didn't use any adhesive preparation (i.e. rubbing alcohol) - just washed and dried the painted surface nicely first. I also didn't use painters tape to hold them on afterwards. Just some firm pressure for a few minutes and let it sit overnight in the garage. Mine are holding nicely. I think Betalink is overkill on the splitters, considering their minimalistic design. Good luck!

1. What width tape did you use? The dealer gave me a small roll of 1/2" 3M tape...basically the kit they use for the rear deck spoiler. Is 1/2" enough on the top surface? 2. Is there only one pre-drilled hole on the lower side...haven't gotton under to check for myself yet. rye: if you drilled new holes, what size bit did you use? Thanks again and "never forget" JW

I found this official BMW guide on CF installs. Can't remember the link. It covers more than just the splitters. Hopefully it can answer all your questions.

IIRC, There are 3 holes on the bottom side of the splitter. Only one hole closest to the wheel actually lines up directly with a screw. One other requires drilling, one other requires some super long screw. (I MIGHT BE WRONG) Mine wasn't going anywhere after a full perimeter of tape.
