why engine and RPM does that on my brand new E93 when engine is first turned on
for few seconds like is going to turn off? like the RPM goes up and down and the engine is catching itself from turning off and then is perfect. Car has 5k on it and now it seems to be everytime is turned on after a while of time car turned off

Mine does the same thing. I think that it is normal.

mine goes up and down a bit but never to a point where it almost turns off.
maybe something that can be simply tuned by the dealer.

This is a trick used on almost all modern cars. The engine will idle below the point where it would die if left unattended and then it increases it's revs for split seconds to save itself from dying. This is just a common trick used to save gas.

Mine does the same thing, as long as it doesn't stall I don't think you should worry. From what I gathered our engines don't have MAF sensors so idle adjustment is a bit rougher

I love the sound. I sounds raw when it is first warming up. Go to a race track some time and listen to a race car when it is just turned on and not yet warm. Very similar behavior. Colds starts are one of my favorite things about this car.

when i start mine cold the RPMs jump up to 1.5K for a few seconds, drops to 1, then to a little bit over .5K. Always paranoid that i got idle control valve problem.

Pretty sure all M3's would idle a little rough on cold starts. In winter its alot more aggressive, so colder it is outside rougher it will idle I guess.....

I totally agree, it sounds so bad ass in the garage when it's cold.

you guys remember chokes from before there were automatic chokes (or systems that serve the same purpose)?
A motor doesn't just start up and run like it's been on for hours. Saves gas? Holy cow, come on! |
