Please, Please talk me out of a GTR

Guys... please, I'm begging you all... somehow talk me out of a GT-R ... ever since I sat in a friend's GTR a month ago, I've gone crazy.. I keep having GT-R dreams and keep thinking of selling my M3 to get the new 2012 GTR...

From the logical point of view -

its the stupidest thing I could do .. I just bought my M3 less than a year ago. I've put in a few mods into it already. Pure cash-wise, I can sell the M3 and get a GT-R.. but I would be taking a obvious hit... I also know the GTR is more expensive to maintain (but not much more... several maint. myth's are floating around the net).. and it would be more expensive to run on the track...

Emotionally -

I'm in love ... Every few days I get the GTR fever and then make plans to stop driving the M3 and then sell it ... then I start to reason logically and somehow get out of the emotional state.... the GTR is a beast... the acceleration .. BRUTAL! .. the looks .. AGGRESSIVE!... damn!! .. I keep thinking .. I can get one now.. its almost within reach...

sob!

also one word of advice - do not drive/or sit in a GTR! .. until you're ready to buy one..

Sorry but my advice is that life is short and if you can afford it and really want it then buy the damn GTR and have fun!

$4500 to replace all the brakes. That's what stopped me.

u can't park your GTR anywhere
u can't stop people taking pic of you (moving or parked)
u can't stop someone come up to you asking you what car it is at gas pump
u can't go anywhere without think someone will key your car
u can't stop lanuching it.
u can't have MT
steering wheel is much more narrow compare to M3
Even in Comfort mode is more harsh than M3 sport mode
Loud tranny
20" runflat oem tires cost u 2 grands to replace
Nissan dealership treat u like u buying a sentra
Nissan service department don't offer you free pastry/coffee
Nissan service advisor won't treat you like u drive a BMW.
Stock rotor and brake pad cost over 7grand to replace at dealership
20k miles service cost u arm and legs
GTR online community is small.

0-60 2.9sec, priceless
downpipe / midpipe / exhaust / Cobb = $5k = 560whp

i have a e92 m3, a m5 , and a GTR and i can tell u that the m's are tame compared to the gtr. nobody even notices them but the gtr turns heads, cameras, videos.
The only bad part is that i use the m's as daily drivers and use the gtr on rare occasions so i dont put miles on it.
What gets expensive is modding the car as oem ones are beginning to look tame to me.
Best of luck. Money wise its much smarter to keep what you have.
I am a little surprised on the responses i have seen many past similar topics and many of them are so pro bmw that its unbearable to read.
i have seen stupid comments on e46fanatics that people stopped caring about gtr's in 2009 and how they beat gtr's at the track all the time. lol

I would get the GTR but wait another 1 1/2-2 years. You should get more use out of your M for now with the idea of getting into a GTR later. With that said you will see what might be up Nissan's sleeves for the next model as well.

You want the car and should treat yourself but do it within reason and with a good plan, Stop modding the M now in anticipation of getting a GTR later.

You'll be happier if you wait. You asked.

Don't do it. That much acceleration could rip the skin off your face. You don't want that. Gtrs are ugly anyway right. Come to your senses. Go look in the garage and chant M3, M3 while dancing around like rocky. It helps.

revisit all the reasons why you chose an M3, to begin with....and go from there...and then sleep on it a few nights

I personally think the GTR is ugly. It's way too small on the inside given its size. But it's performance is another league, no doubt about that. I think a supercharged e92 would be more fun... but thats just me.

Girl: what do you drive?
You: BMW
Girl: wow, nice car. Btw, can we hang out tonight?

After you trade your car in and buy a GTR
Girl: what do you drive?
You: Nissan
Girl: oh, my mom drives Nissan too. Oh I'm in hurry, see you next time.

lol. Honestly, GTR is such a great car. I have owned mine since 09. But I also found out that its a car that you either hate it or love it. Some of my friends sold it after just 2-3 months. Make sure drive it for a good amount of time before purchase since your friend has one.

What makes you think that you won't get bored of a GTR?

Yeah its really fast, but you can't even get a manual.

There has been a nice amount of turn over with GTRs.
