2011 E93 M3 Roof Rattle
My roof started to rattle a couple of days ago. Everything seems to be working fine. Did have a hiccup a few days ago when opening / closing the top, otherwise everything was going great (4 mos 4500 miles).
I thought I was going to avoid these type of issues with this car. I may have been wrong. The car is going back to the dealer on Monday. Should I be optimistic about getting this solved or should I look forward to having this issue and more of the same as time goes by. Your input would be appreciated. |

Depends how you drive
i get rattles but it's a convertible, it's expected. My dealer generally fixes them, but them a different rattle starts a different day lol

I have rattles too, and I think it's mostly caused by the crappy road condition here. No rattles on smooth roads. Over bumpy roads I can hear what sounds like the rear window vibrating over the rear deck. Will tell the dealer about it and see what they can do.

OP, my friend used to work for a BMW dealer as a service tech. Back in the day, E36 3 series were notorious of having sunroof rattles.
He told me, they used to get this foam, with adhesive backing, and place it where the noise is coming from. problem solved

I had the rattle too. Came from back rear of the car, there was some pieces there that were rubbing together (when top up) they will use some double sided insulating tape (stuff they use on dashboard rattles) and you should be all set. Hardest part is finding where it is coming from dealer took 2 days on mine.
