Oops, over rev

Today while overtaking some slow traffic I went over the red line in 2nd gear (6 MT). Not realizing that I over reved, I felt something limiting the engine, so I looked down and saw I was in the red zone of the tach, which lasted for may be 2 seconds, then I quickly shifted to 3rd. The car drives fine after, no codes...I was just wondering it that thing I felt was a engine rev limiter to save idiots like me, and whether I could have done any damage to the engine or trans?

Thank you,

As long as the rev limiter was the issue and you did not downshift and mechanically over rev then you are fine.

Yes, mostly likely the rev limiter. I (with my limited knowledge) think you will be perfectly fine. It's there for that reason.

I'm sure it's fine. But think the other way... MAN, THAT WAS INTOXICATING!

LOL, you know what you are right. It was INTOXICATING, especially I was under a bridge when I hit the red line, which amplified the engine sound so much. I almost wet myself.
