As I said before, Senna was a great man who happened to be a great driver. His work, influence and achievements outside the race tracks were no less impressive than his superhuman driving skills. And boy, could he drive!

JFK is part of America's soul and he did change the course of history and I think he deserves the same respect Brazilians give to Senna.

His response simply shows how little he knows about the world

And boy, could he drive! I was watching the race live on TV when he crashed and my crying eyes were glued to the TV for the rest of the day. For me and millions os people in my home country, it felt like the country had lost its soul.

If there are more visitors to Senna's grave than to JFK's, it probably only means that Brazil is the largest catholic country in the world and, for catholics, it is important to pay respects to the deceased at their grave yard. I have been to Arlington National Cemetery and payed my respects to JFK. I have never been to Senna's grave in Sao Paulo... Does this have any special meaning? Of course not.

Sorry, but your logic does nothing for me. Yes, Senna was a great driver, a kind person and he had a generous heart, but that doesnt make him a hero to me.

I could make the analogy that more people go to Disneyland every year then Senna's grave. How does that sound, To compare your "hero" to a meaningless place of commercialism? Same deal for me. It's fucking pathetic to compare in any manor, a person who got paid millions of dollars to drive a car, to a man who lead the free world, fought communism, and fended off a nuclear holocaust.

BTW, I'm a Senna fan, and I named my dog Senna

The Blue-Ray release is what I'll have to purchase, but a theater does seem to be a most appropriate venue to view the movie-documentary.

If you think for a minute that Senna didn't change the world, you're mistaken. He blew past the earthling label of "hero" to ascend to demi-god status among millions if not billions; especially so where the Japanese and Brazilians are concerned. JFK never enjoyed such respect and adulation from about the globe. However, try this on for size: IF there had been a Twitter network in the early 90's, I cannot imagine anyone in sports, politics or entertainment of that era being able to pull in a greater following than the man who you say "was just a great racing driver."

But you could have on the basis of inspiring, raising the spirits of individuals about the globe. What part of JFK's legacy today cares for the orphans, disowned, impoverished? Such is precisely what the Senna Foundation is doing. It's to the man's credit that during his life he did not want word of his charities to become known. People that thought they knew him as the single-minded, ambitious driver were stunned to learn after his death that he had been knee deep in extensive charity work for many years. Fair enough, meu amigo, but I am an American, born in the USA, and I have traveled a bit, even lived in Brazil and have no such reservations although I would know my manners if in Brazil.

I've met many a compatriot that cannot wrap his arms around the idea that sports in America -- baseball, football and basketball -- have been eating the dust of soccer and F1 where the number of fans/followers of sports is the subject. As much as I like football, I realize that it is a tier two sport when juxtaposed to soccer or F1. We're talking about billions that follow the #1 and #2 sports as opposed to millions that follow everything else.

so did magic johnson change the world because he donated money to promoted aids research? people put sports stars on too much of a pedestal period. just because a country full of brazilians love him, doesnt change that in my book.

Saw this movie today. This is a great movie with amazing footage, including from inside Senna's car. Even wives and girlfriends should enjoy it, given the human interest angle of the documentary.

I agree, it was a great piece of film. Loved it. Saw it last weekend. I'll probably get the DVD as well. My wife would've been bored to tears though.
