Arrow AiM SOLO: The Ultimate GPS Lap Timer & Logger for Track Days | Demo Video Now Added

Many people ask, which modification is the best bang for the buck to go faster.

I tell them: the driver.

Nothing can help you drive faster than being a better driver. Initially an instructor may be able to help you get up to speed, but at some point, seat of the pants just don't work any longer. And this is when you need data.

Just released from AiM in Italy, the SOLO is designed for the weekend track day drivers. Despite its small size, the SOLO packs in the capability of a professional data logger. It is also designed to be completely plug and play and easy to use.

Key Features:

SOLO
  • High accuracy GPS-based lap timer and data logger
  • Portable and battery operated: up to 6 hours of operation on single charge, 4 hours with backlight on
  • Predictive lap timing shows real-time comparison between current lap and best lap
  • Drag race mode: 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, 0-60 mph
  • 8MB data logging: good for hundreds of laps and data
  • Professional data analysis software: Race Studio 2

Any options to connect an external GPS Antenna (like the AiM GPS05) to the SoloDL?

No because there is no need - the photos were taken indoors but it still managed to find 4-5 satellites as you can see in the second picture.

Since this unit uses the same "Race Studio 2" Software ... i want to use it in my race car with OBDII connection.
However, i cannot mount it on the windshield as intended/designed. And i would be maybe somewhere in the instrument cluster, off to the left of the cluster.. or in the center console. And i have some serious doubts about how effective the internal GPS can be with a full race cage and away from the windshield.

But im willing to give it a try.

Can you PM me a price for (2) SoloDL OBDII units shipped.
Thanks

how do you plot the track into it?

or it picks it up after the first lap by itself?

Also, can you overlay video with this? If I get a gopro can I use this data system to overlay that video? Also PM me a price if possible, still pricing things out for next year

SOLO comes with a GPSManager program which has a database of tracks around the world. If your track is not listed, it can simply be captured with GPS after the first lap. Below is a snapshot of the program of a track I created.

SOLO DL can be integrated with SmartyCam for full data overlay.

do you sell these? if so can you please send me a pm with pricing for the solo and solo dl?

if i wanted to use the solo dl in a car other than my m3 is it possible to get a harness for the ecu/can (i assume these are just two acronyms for the same thing)? or is there a generic OBDII harness? Is there a significant or any difference in the accuracy of the readings?

sorry for all the questions. i have been trying to research all the various data logging solutions lately, but can use some help.

Price please, and does it require the ECU connection? I'd like to use the GPS lap timer on the motorcycle, as well, if possible.

Thanks for bringing it by for a quick demo. Its a pretty powerful tool in a small package. Very easy to use and set up. We did a few laps around my neighborhood and also 0-60.
I bet this tool will be in many trackday cars!

Thanks.

OS?

Does it run on OSX? I've been looking for something that doesn't require Windows as all I have are an iMac and a MacBook Pro... and don't want to deal with loading a separate OS.

Thanks for sharing Richard! I definitely will be picking one up next track season. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the track last week due to weather issues, so I didn't see it fit for me to order a SOLO just now.

I'll be contacting you for one in the near future for sure!
