This turbo lag thing again! 997 turbos hardly have lag. It will sometimes be minimally present if conditions are right but it is by far something one would consider an issue.

Lumbering along in top gear at a very relaxed pace for some time, then hitting it hard may sometimes create lag. Ripping through gears you won't notice it.

I'm comparing the turbo lag in the porsche turbo to the instant telepathic power delivery in the m3. When you drive an m3 consistently (especially in sport plus mode) then drive a 911 turbo, the lag will be very noticeable. Don't get me wrong, I love the 911 turbo. It looks amazing, and is insanely fast, it's just that FI and Awd is not for me.

As Ive said before, I love the M brand, this is my 5th M car. How many have you owned? And again, the fact that the M3 flies under the radar as opposed to almost everything else is something that was important to me.

I got my first m3 back in 97 it was an estoril blue e36, after that I briefly owned an e46 sold it and got another e36. Then a few years later a e92 in stick and currently a e92 dct and a 911s pdk.

Exactly! .1 997 turbos with AWD launch stupid crazy. Yeah, the .2's with PDK are more insane but the .1 turbo is giving nothing away to an M. If a .1 turbo driver can't beat an M in ANY speed contest he should sell the car and buy a bicycle.

Had a run in with a 911T last week, coming back from work late i was In some twisties getting onto the highway and I couldn't tell if it was a boxster or 911 ( it was behind me) he was doing pretty good in the curves and then he BLEW past me as soon as we hit the highway I couldn't even hear my M that's how loud his exhaust and turbos were lol
