Drive mode

Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, when the DCT is on drive mode it always preset to D2. Is there a way to chage it?. This is standerd settings when driving on normal conditions.

Cheers,

Use the rocker right below the shifter. Click it right.

My '08 seems to default to the last setting and always comes up on 5 in Drive. Yours probably does the same. The manual mode seems to always come up on 2 (I believe) and you have to use the rocker selection to get to 5.

Yes I can adjust it using the button below the gear shifter. But the settings only last till the ignition on. Once engine turn off and turn on it goes back to D2 again.

Is there a way to set the default to something else other than D2?

When you are on the screen to configure your M-Mode settings - Press the options button and have a look. I ran across this while driving so I didn't mess with it but it might be what you're looking for.

You can't change the default. This has already been established in many other threads.

US-spec M3's default to S3, Euro-spec M3's default to D2. Cheers

Cheers,
Next time when you are driving in D2, use the little rocker below the shifter to change to D3, D4 or D5 (indicated by the number of bars in your dash). Arrive at your destination and shut off the car as usual. Now when you start it again next time and put it in D, it will remain in whatever mode you left it in.

pman10 is correct it's default back to D2. It doesn't keep the rocker settings after ignition is off.

pman10 has it right. The OP has different defaults then what the US cars have. So everyone from the US that replies will think "what's wrong this guy since mine D mode remembers my last setting?"

I don't know but it seems like a lot of energy is being used to make D mmode default to a setting to other than factory specs. I usually select several other options when I start, such as upping the EDC to prevent bottoming out at the end of my driveway. Actually, I almost never use D mode, that's for my wife.

I imagine it has something to do with BMW trying to market the M-DCT as a 'sporty'/ 'manual' transmission.

Also, you can preset your start-up EDC (and I believe throttle setting) in the M-key settings menu.
