Tips for Removing the Trunk Lid Liner

I was wondering what is the proper way to remove the 10 gray fasteners holding the trunk lid liner to the trunk. That liner is held on there pretty well.
I rather not break the fasteners or the liner.

You'll need a trim removal tool, you can use a carpet tack removal tool from Home Depot if the proper tool can't be located:

Or use a thin flat head. Insert under the top T-pin and gradually pry it out...

any kragen has a special tool that is under $10

Only problem is that once removed, they'll never be the same, so I'd buy new ones; they should be pretty cheap.

Actually, if you are careful, these do work like new. It's actually two parts that interlock so when you remove them you are not bending them.

BMW calls these fasteners expanding rivets.

If anyone needs new ones, the part # is: 51498237075. They cost about $0.50 each.

. Thought they were those with 'discs' that get deformed when pulled out.

i broke one of mine a while back and went to the dealership to get a new one. my local dealership ripped me off to the tune of $2/rivet. of course i wants going to go home empty handed so i just bought it there but its surprising what kind of margin they can make on small parts like these.

Many dealer parts departments are a bunch of crooks. When I can buy a tire valve cap for $1.75 at the dealer where I purchased my car and then the dealer 30 miles away charges $0.49 for the same cap, you know I don't spend anything on parts/accessories at the dealer where I got my car.

It's just ridiculous how much some dealers mark up their parts prices.

Anyone know how to reattach the trunk release when reinstalling the liner? Or have a pic of what it looks like under the lliner? I forgot how it was set up ha.

I am wanting to replace my ordinary reverse bulb with an audible bulb,but I do not know how to get the carpet off my boot lid,can some one send me the instructions/pictures of how to do it? Cheers in advance..............Dave.
