BBK?
Also, I was curious, what happens to your sub when you track your car, that thing is moving all over the place? and the weight doesn't bother you? |

no i strip the car down for track days and it comes out. had it mounted so i could remove the wires and take it out. i pull out floor mats and rear headrests and interior trim as well. my car is still a pig but every bit helps. trying to avoid a bbk. just did apex gt4 ducts and adding ferodo ds2500 pads and stainless lines and high temp fluid. hoping that will be sufficient but time will tell.

i think before i do a bbk and coilovers i will look seriously into a e36m3 or e46m3 full track prepped car.

might as well smoke the stockers before you do that. i can buy new pads and rotors 5 times for the cost of a front bbk. with all my upgrades dont think it will be needed. (high temp fluid, challenge stainless lines, GT4 brake ducts, ferodo ds2500 pads)

trying to fool myself. i am happy with how much progress my car has made in the past few months though. added tons of stuff to make it more track capable.

I really am modding less and less. My modding days peaked with my '00 Audi S4 ($34,000 in mods) and my '04 350Z ($31,000) in mods. My '07 RS4 had about $16,000 in mods. My '09 Cayenne GTS has about $3000 in mods and my '11 M3 has $260 in mods so far (wheel spacers).
I love modding, but there is absolutely no return on the expense. And as we all know, modding cars can be a bottomless money pit. OEM options on a car will add some value at resale or trade-in, but mods can actually lessen the value as the resale market for a modded car is much less regardless of the quality of the mods. In this sense, it is a double hit financially. If you could get money back on your mods I would still be all over it. Removing the mods, putting the OEM parts back, and trying to sell the mods second hand can be yet more of an expense and a time consuming PITA. No thanks. I will still mod my cars, but only if they are small or if I really feel the car is glaringly deficient in some aspect. I will also try to option the car from the factory in a way that I need to minimize my mods. That is one of the reasons I ordered the ZCP option, for instance. For $2500, I get a suspension that needs no modding and wheels that I think are absolutely gorgeous. On top of that, the ZCP will likely add a little value at trade-in. There is also the simple reality that for me, the M3 really doesn't need much modding. The exhaust is a little weak and maybe I will add an axle back unit. The car needs wider tires in the rear and I will likely change out the rears to 285/30's, but that is about it. The OEM's are also offering more and more options in general including factory mods that do add value to the car and do not diminish resale capacity. Look at Porsche's Ceramic brakes for example. At $8000 for a set of four, it is a relative bargain too. For those that love big ticket modding...go for it. It is definitely fun, certainly is addicting, and may be needed if you are building a serious track car(but that is different matter). But I am done. If I was the type to keep a car for 10 years, it would still be different, but I tend to flip every 4-5 years, and the loss of money is just more than I care to deal with anymore.

Wheels and tires are stock ZCP. Spacers are Turner Motorsports 12.5mm front and rear. Looks tastefully aggressive with no rubbing issues whatsover. People without ZCP having been going with 15-18mm in front and 12-15mm in the rear from what I have seen. The Turner units are very high quality pieces.

I know its gotten bad. In the last 3-4 months I've gotten challenge sport, evolve stage 2, turner stud conversion, bmw pedals, challenge stainless lines, high temp brake fluid, ferodo ds2500 pads, Aim SOLO, GT4 brake ducts, and have schroth harness coming.
