M3 for the 2008 Tech Car of the Year
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7...eed&subj=Crave
Ok, so its not the most prestigious of awards, but let's snow the M3 some love. Its currently a distant second behind the GTR, so get your vote in. In fairness, the GTR is an amazing machine though. But I'd still like to at least see the M3 make a better showing. Its barely holding off the Lincoln MKS right now. Last edited by mkoesel; 12-12-2008 at 11:41 AM.. |

Well I might vote if it weren't for two things:
1. E93 2. DCT They are specific about that, and I'd never drive that with all the "tech". GT-R got my vote. Need to be objective here. |

Ok, well if you'd rather drive the Lincoln, then by all means vote for that instead.
Edit: I see you clarified. But I don't get it. You won't drive the M3 partly because of the transmission, but you would drive the GTR even with the same type of transmission? |

Yes, I would drive the GT-R, since it's a better car IMO. I would still prefer a 6MT though. Just as I would a Ferrari F430, etc.

Yeah, I gotcha on that. I was just surprised you listed M-DCT as a reason for not picking the M3, even going as far as to say I'd never drive that with all the "tech". And then you turn around and say you'd prefer the GTR which not only has that same "tech", but also adds AWD and AWS.

Well if it was an E90 6MT I'd vote irrationally like a woman They made my choice easier. Also I don't mind tech when done right and on the right car. The M3 IMO is less a race/track car than the GT-R, F430, etc. To me the M3 is more of a street car that has too much tech in it these days. Of course this is just my opinion. I really don't have anything against anyone choosing DCT, even if I may have some things against how BMW implemented DCT.
