Gas in NY
Hey guys,
I have an 2008 e93 m3 conv and I pretty much ran out of gas over here in NY. I have just a little bit to get to the gas station 2 blocks away from me. The gas situation here in NY has been a bit crazy still, and they are only re-fueling the 87 gas. I know the car states to only use 93, how bad would it be if I fill up on 87 for the time being, until this gas situation is mitigated? |

If anything, I would get a bottle of octane booster right after you fill up and mix that in with the 87. I think if you just put the 87 in and ran it until 93 was available again, you should be perfectly fine.

Sorry about your situation. We are all feeling for you guys out there.
Octane booster is a waste of $$. It increases octane by a few tenths of a point. Just fill up with the 87 and don't floor it and certainly don't take it up to redline until you can get some 93.

Drive really conservative (prob should anyhow with the snow/ice), find some Octane Booster or maybe see if a shop has some Race Gas (blend so you're not running straight 87)

Toluene is 114 octane, available at any hardware store. Might be a good stop-gap measure! Mix it with the 87 and you'll get to 93 quite easily.
However, I haven't researched it for our cars, so search a bit more to ensure it's safe. (Though it worked perfecty fine on my Stage 2.5 WRX STi)
