Carrying a camera is almost like carrying around a guitar case, IME. They initiate contact and start asking what your doing, etc., etc.
If you want to really excite the ladies carry a 500mm lens on a professional looking camera. They ALWAYS comment and want to know what you do with that thing. I'm now convinced that there are genetic markers that draw the ladies to "big equipment."
