And an FX 50mm becomes a 75mm equivalent on a DX body, and that is "too long" for you? Seriously? I guess you shoot exclusively wide angle, because a telephoto zoom is going to be far longer than a 50mm....

Sloppy typing, yes equivalent 50mm focal length. I know an FX 50 would only be effectively ~75 on a DX body, but I like the perspective at 50. I borrowed a friend's 50 1.4G DX and it was phenomenal, just couldn't justify ~$500 for one.
