My 18 x 9.5 et22 front wheels with Michelin PSS have 2-3mm of clearance to the spring. I also had a slight rubber mark on my springs when I removed my wheels. He must have either removed his helper springs or ran stock ride-height in order to make this work. Another possible explanation is that the tires are more stretched on the 10 and 10.5" wheels and that could provide more clearance.
