It is out of warranty. I'm rolling the dice with out of warranty M3's since I DIY on my vehicles quite a bit(and have access to shops/BME indi mechanic if it's too big of a job at home). However, a new transmission swap is definitely not a cost I want to take on, DIY or shop :/ Drats.
