Your question is flawed, "why do females think it's okay to have an irrational answer in an argument"
They don't think, they either 'do' or 'do not do' with no reason. Often times there is no correlation between thinking, discussing, agreeing to do, and doing.
I think they operate more on instinct and feeling then logic, or rational thought. Don’t waste your time trying to figure it out. Pick your battles, and try to adjust your environment and habits to keep yourself from going crazy.
For example, my wife will not turn off a light, this makes me crazy. The bathroom lights are the biggest offenders, so I put in motion sensitive lights in the bathroom, problem solved argument avoided.
