I got 5 years for $1300. The finance guy knocked off $100 and wouldn't go any lower. However, it's definitely worth it for peace of mind. The prices OP stated are a little steep. It really depends on the dealer. You only get one chance to purchase this through BMW(at the time of sale). I PM'd one of the members to see how much he paid. He did really well, $1100 for 5 years. Also, I scratched my rim on the first day I brought my car home. And THAT was covered. Yeah, it hasn't paid for itself yet, but I'm not so worried if I hit a pothole.

Also, if you are in a nice area where you don't get a lot of snow with nice highways, I guess you can get away with not purchasing. NY/NJ area is a crapshoot. Also, as much as we have to change our tires, I'm thinking chances are good that it'll be in good condition when shit goes down that they will cover it.

OP, sorry to hear about your troubles.
