I agree with your recommendation for the OP but for different reasons. Seems to me that the "long in the tooth" M3 just won yet another comparison test
For the right person, the M3 is not a blind jump and is still one of the best overall options. For the OP and his driving habits, I agree he should stick with the less expensive, better gas mileage, less fun and lower performing 335 because he won't see the benefit of the M3 the way he describes his driving habits, etc.
