That had yet to develop (for the n54)?
GM had no foresight into the aftermarket of the LS motors when they began production. They were late to the show with enhancements themselves.
Theres also the issue that most automobile companies design engines to run at RATED HP and torque for several hundred hours (so they are much more conservative on power production) - something that the aftermarket has no concerns about.
