The OEM replacements could be rejects from the factory. In my experience that seems to be the case. When I put a non OEM replacement in, like PPG the glass fit perfectly and there was no distortion. With the OEM glass there was some very severe distortion.
And yes the rain sensor is BS. Most shops are experienced in replacing them now.
