I have also noticed that people drive like pikeys when they are around the M, but what's interesting is that my passengers have noticed instances of people actually exhibiting rage towards my car as it passes by. I didn't know that 'till they told me.
Of course, you get the opposite as well, admiring onlookers. I was driving through Diamond Bar one day, and a white Mk. V GTI driver kept looking my way. He did a little too much looking and went full steam into the rear of a black Mercedes Benz.
You'll get attention of all sorts, good and bad.
