Actually many states do recognize each others' CCL via reciprocity laws. You still have to know the laws to carrying in a vehicle in each state (ie. gun & ammo separate, in the trunk, etc). But - as an example - I know WY and UT recognize CO-approved CCL. It's not uncommon.
