If this is the case all the new fuel like 98 octane (BP Ultimate and Shell V-max) being cleaner and good for the engine is all bullsh$t. Just marketing statements and we pay a higher price for nothing.

Octane rating has little to do with being clean. It's the detergent additives that helps keep the intake valves clean IF fuel is being sprayed on the the intake valves. If there was a mechanic issue with the engine or poor fuel quality or lack of oil changes oil from the crankcase would basically bake onto the intake valves. That would lead to poor idle quality and other issues ect. If the rings were having too much blow by from too much boost you would have similar issues that's what I has trying to display here.
Direct injection I feel is a poor design, requires more maintaince. IE valve cleaning with walnut shells. So glad our S65 does not have it.
