2008 BMW M3's with 6 speeds are stacking up due to the economy and gas prices. BMW M3's with DCT's are in short supply and are selling at a premium.

Worth it to wait for the 2009 M3 with next gen iDrive. Unless you need a really really good deal on a 2008 M3 and don't mind a speed 6. It is a buyers market for 2008's.
Back to MRSP for 2009 unless you are lucky. If you are in SF, Cali you will pay...

Cheers,
I think that the rationale about why the 6MT do not sell cannot hold true if you only mention economy and gas prices....because that is about the same for the DCT model (except that the 6MT is actually cheaper)....no, it just raises questions such as:
Are the people buying a DCT because:
1) they are really interested in the new technology and believe that it has an edge over the 6MT?
or 2) if they had to compromise with their significant other so that they can both drive the car?
or 3) the number of people capable of driving a 6MT is decreasing?
or ... ?

in any case, this trend marks just a change in behavior, which is NOT bad, just a fact.
