I've had my slip-on for a few months now and have been completely happy with the sound and looks. I have the EVO pieces sitting in my office and I'm really excited based on what everyone says.
Can't wait to install it after BMW is finished fixing my main bearings.
But my point is, you might be happy enough with the slip-on. The good thing is you can always upgrade to the EVO when you want more.
