I have an non-M3 E90 but have exactly the same leak as Danny. From what I can tell there was no stress from the wires/hoses on the pump. All of my wiring/hoses were still attached properly (although maybe with the recent battery cable recall work they were in there and fixed it - since the battery cables run right through there). But, it is in a place where if the hose to the nozzles was too tight it could have caused that crack. The replacement pump looks significantly different, maybe BMW realized they had an issue and fixed it.

Total cost of repair for me with my BMWCCA discount is about $60 at BMW of Silver Spring (new pump, strainer, and some fender rivets) plus a couple hours of my time. It's not that difficult a job.

Also note, for my car without the headlight washers, the part # is 67127302589. I believe the number 67128377430 Danny provided is for the headlight washer pump:
