You could be a little less optimistic and say that BMW has done so well for so long that it's time for them to slip up. Why not, everybody else is, at least in the looks department.
The bangled E92 is certainly not awe-inspiring and it's very possible that the new M3 could look like the E92 with fatter tires, side vents, and quad tips.
I am far more concerned with them coming in with 401 HP, 3800 lbs, and a 0-60 of 4.8s. Just enough to beat the Lexus entry.
