This should be called the "True Touareg 2" because, exactly as you said, the Egg2 was really just a facelift.
It looks like maybe in this version VW/Audi/Porsche finally got it right. The original was well-made but too heavy. It was nice that it was available (the VW version) with the 10-cylinder diesel, but towing Boeing 747s is a really not a practical daily project. The missing third row seats made it a tougher sell to families causing lower production and keeping prices high.
Anyway, I am hoping this will sell well in Europe and all the bugs get ironed out before it comes stateside.
