I noticed the difference because my 2010 had full leather and I liked the feel of the center console much more.
Either way, I like the speed cloth...doesn't look cheap at all and makes the car feel more sporty.

The center console around the shifter is Novillo leather, like the seat bolsters. The center armrest is standard leather, not Novillo. The doors are leatherette (vinyl) with cloth inserts. BMW should have been a little more consistent with the interior finishes on cloth equipped cars but I still prefer my cloth over leather - far less maintenance.
