It's hard enough getting power and torque bumps out of the current engine with the 4 L displacement. You really think they can squeeze out even more performance while downsizing the same engine? And if they put the TT V8 into the M3 and M4 then no one will buy the M5 and M6. The prevalent use of TT 6 cylinder engines makes perfect sense. They match or exceed the performance of the V8 predecessor, they get far better mileage, and they offer an opportunity to cut costs by sharing many aspects of the engine's design with the similar 6 cyl engines in the cheaper series model cars on which they are based.
