European Delivery – Drop off location change
Effective July 1, 2009, drop off locations Madrid and London have been eliminated
from the European Delivery Program and will no longer be available for customers.
Available drop off locations are:
· Germany: Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Sindelfingen
· Austria: Vienna
· France: Nice, Paris
· Netherlands: Amsterdam
· Switzerland: Geneva, Zurich
· Italy: Available for a fee. Please reference
www.bmwusa.com/europeandelivery
The maximum insurance period has also changed to 5 months. The 6 months
coverage is no longer available, effective immediately.
The change in drop off locations and maximum insurance coverage has been
implemented due to a new law in Germany that requires vehicles to be registered
and insured until they arrive at Port Bremerhaven. Due to this new requirement, all
European Delivery vehicles will have additional 13 days coverage to allow for
European Inland transportation starting on July 1, 2009. That additional time can
only be used by the trucking company for the inland transportation of the vehicle
and can not be used by the customer to extend their stay.
By law, the maximum stay of European Delivery vehicle cannot exceed 6 months.
Therefore, the registration office will only allow a maximum of 5 months plus 13
days (to allow for inland transportation) registration period.
When assisting your customer with the planning of their trip, please ensure that
they understand that BMW of North America will continuously offer the standard
14 days registration and insurance coverage on all European Deliveries. Additional
coverage can be purchased at rates listed on
www.bmwusa.com/europeandelivery .
Thank you for supporting the European Delivery Program and remember what an
amazing experience the BMW Welt delivery provides. As one of our customers
called it BMW’s “Magic Kingdom”.
