There is nothing necessarily wrong with analog audio. If the BMW DAC is significantly better than the Ipod DAC..or your cables/connectors are crap then it would make a difference.
Otherwise, if the reverse were true, that the Ipod's DAC is superior, you are better off giving your BMW hifi and analog source.
