So we all know BMW intentionally puts in understeer into their cars for our safety. When you start wanting to get faster at the track, it really sucks. I recently had vorschlag camber plates and RD sport sways installed on my car and the results have been really positive for me. I went from -1.8 to -2.4 in the front (-1.5 to -1.8 in the rear) and my rear sway bar has been set to the medium setting. The car rotates beautifully.
Last month at Thunderhill, I was getting compliments on how well my car looked like it rotated from instructors who were following me from behind and corners have become twice as fun to play in.
Well today we were back at Laguna Seca and with the sway bars and camber plates alone, I shaved a solid 2 seconds off of my lap time. But it's not as simple as that. I have to be a lot more careful with my slip angle because the rear loves to come out a lot more. I think I just need more time with this setup to get it fully under control. I think I experienced more oversteer at Laguna than when I was at Thunderhill because I'm much more confident and willing to push the car a bit harder. Anyways, here's a video:
My fastest lap was 1:44.5 and I consistently around 1:45-46 with little traffic. Before these 2 mods, my best was 1:46.6. But the best part of it all is the car is so much more fun to drive at the track.
