Agree with the first part, but not the second. The engine in the 911 turbos is bullet proof. I've known a number of people who have bought 2001-2004 911 turbos and none have had issues with them. As long as you do your research and find a clean car the likelihood that something is going to go catastrophically wrong is pretty low. Plus for 45k the 911 turbo is in a completely different league than an M3. OP if you're itching for a new car I would recommend trying to drive an old 911 turbo.
