I manually shift 90% of the time, using D only on cold starts to let the transmission warm up. I don't feel it during city driving while shifting, only when I get on the interstate cruising at highway speeds. Try it some time. Get up to 75 or so in 7th gear and leave your hand on the shift knob....

But as you point out, so far it is nothing more than a very minor annoyance and not worth bringing the car in by itself. Next time I'm due for service I will mention it.
