Yes, think this is good advice. As galling as it may be, some buyers will think some sellers are needy - hey, they don't know if you are going down in flames financially due to medical bankruptcy etc - & hence will start out w/ a 'game on' mentality.
I just ignore the very low offer types as the spread likely makes for too much aggravation / frustration in trying to close that gap. Better to distance from these 'buyers'.
