ITS NOT TO SEAL air out. its so the unit can fit snuggly once the clamp is tied down.
also instead of wrapping it around in 1 long strip i just cut several strips and taped it all down. entire install took less than 20 min, worst part as i mentioned was figuring how to get the charger in as it doesn't flex.
