As an engineered solution, yes. As an end user solution, no, and you shouldn't even need to worry about that after paying $600 for a piece.

CF is obviously not as flexible as the OEM plastic so you can't just use a clamp to squeeze it down and make a seal. What they could have done is created a small groove at the end of the piece and have some kind of rubberized seal or maybe an o-ring that would allow the clamp to compress the rubber seal a little bit and create an airtight junction. This same method is used on lots of cars that use MAF sensors. The MAF sensor housing is typically a very hard plastic so they have o-rings on each end that create a seal with the intake plumbing. The o-rings sits in a small groove that keeps the o-rings seated and not get pushed out of position when the housing and intake plumbing are pushed together.
