OP, I've tried several "value" tire sets over the past several years. Goodyear Asymmetrics, Pirelli, Bridgestone (shudder...) - and Michelins have consistently had less faults, better wear, and higher performance wet or dry. Obviously it depends on the performance, but the tires are the only things that stick you to the road - in an M3, really recommend you spend money on tires, and save money elsewhere.
Oh, and I'm a big fan of Michelin PSS.
