i dont even touch my car between washes.. and its not ur hands that would scratch it, its that dust between your skin and the car.. same idea with the cover.. its going to cause surface scratches to the paint, exspecially if there is dust, dirt, anything..
seems like a couple people know this...
just live by the as little as u touch it the better off you'll be rule..

why someone would park a car inside a garage, and then throw a cover over it is beyond me.. so what if dust added up in time, you'll wash it.. outside winds would make the cover abbrasive too..

car covers are a false security.. i cant find a situation where its worth it, unless ur car is simply going to be more damaged than without it (i wouldnt even want my car in that situation)..
