Cheaper would be the Sony RX100 ($650). Obviously doesn't compare with the RX1 or a full-frame DSLR, but a relatively large image sensor (1"), fast zoom lens, etc. A shame the front ring doesn't click, though, and how buried some of the options are in menus vis-a-vis DSLRs.
