Happy New Year fellow IL drivers!!!

I pretty much found this out last night during NYE party, I was absolutely shocked, I mean common a year in jail, wtf!!! Are other states that rigorous as well?
Why have a fast car?

A new law that swept through the General Assembly earlier this year will prohibit judges from issuing court supervision to drivers caught speeding 40 mph or more above the speed limit. Instead, these offenders could face up to a year in jail or probation under the legislation.

The law, which will take effect Saturday, also creates a new category of excessive speeding, ranging from 30 to 39 mph above the speed limit. Instead of receiving a standard moving violation, drivers caught speeding by that much could now be slapped with up to $1,500 in penalties and six months in jail.
