As far as I know, the Lexus brand, for example, isn't the household name outside US that it is here in US. Indeed Toyota only began selling Lexus in Japan in 2005. Prior to that, though the cars themselves were available in, say, Japan, they were sold under the Toyota brand.
If I recall correctly, Toyota did a reorganization which resulted in the Lexus brand becoming distinct from the Toyota brand (organizationally). That may be why we don't see Lexus represented in the logos if the Lexus organization is contributing nothing to the joint venture.
