i just went through this dilemma as well... after many searches, and speaking to Eddy at APEX (very friendly and helpful!), i decided to go with a 18x9.5 and 18x10.5 with 265/35 and 285/30. this combo is quite common and widely used by track and race guys.
yes tire choices are limited... i am going with the BFG R1's but the R888's were another option (they even have a 295/30 R888 rear which wouldve worked nicely), but i decided to go with the R1's. there are othe r comps choices in this size from yoko, michelin cups, hoosier R6 (i think?), but the R1's were my fav choice for bang for the buck and grip levels.
