With quality hubcentric spacers, negative issues are minimal to nonexistant. There is a very slight unsprung weight increase, and potential for slightly increased wheel bearing wear (no different than running wider wheels with more offset). I don't think either is of concern, though I won't go more than 12 mm with the stock wheels. (Many have used 15 mm ore even 18 mm in the front).
