Long story short, I was hearing a very loud ticking/clattering noise on startup. Went away once warm. I didn't get a limp-home mode or CEL, however. After a fuel analysis, it ended up being attributed to excessive ethanol content (+15%) in the gas. Dealer siphoned out the bad gas, put in new gas, and I haven't heard it since.
