Better to raise the e-brake with the button down as you avoid friction in the mechanism.

However, I let a friend drive the other day, and I noticed he just pulled up without pushing the button and it made clicking sounds as it went up.

Can someone tell me if I'm supposed to hold the button down before pulling up when I park? Or am I supposed to just pull it up and lock it that way? Or does it not matter?
