I used InterCity Lines to ship from Boston to San Diego. I recommend them. Once it goes on the enclosed truck, it doesn't come off until final destination. Same company Jay Leno uses when he buys cars at auctions, etc.
Other cheap carriers will use open trucks (the kind you see on the freeways heading to a dealer) and will "consolidate" cars at various hubs, meaning your car is driven off and on and around to different trucks along the way, no thank you!
